Mother’s Day appreciates motherhood, our mothers and mother figures. Some might think it’s a recent, around a hundred-year old festival because Mother’s Day celebrations in the US started around that time. In fact, its origins go back to Ancient Greece and Rome.

Mothers Day is celebrated in many countries around the world and on different dates. In the US it is on the second Sunday in May every year.

This useful infographics shows among others how many mothers there are in the US and how their numbers are declining, how many people buy plants and what kind of plants, how many bouquets are sold and where these flowers come from.

The infographic can be used in creative ways and could be a great introductory tool to teach about Mother’s Day history and habits, women’s movements and rights, parenthood, population decline, etc.
