Sometimes it is difficult to interest young learners in writing. It is important to appeal to their interests, and these writing prompts do just that! Simply print this free worksheet, and provide your child with the sentence starter of, “My best day ever would be…”

Next, have your student finish the sentence however they like. Advise them to continue writing on topic for as long as they can. Once they feel as though they have hit a dead end, prompt them with the five W’s: who, what, when, where, or why? Why would this be the best day ever? What exactly would they do? How?

Your little learner is sure to grow in their confidence and writing ability through this free and easy (and enjoyable, too!) writing exercise.
