How and Where Sharks Attack
Every year an enormous number of Sharks are killed by humans, mainly through fishing. An estimated number of about 8,000 are killed every hour! They are deadly for sure, but it seems we should be more sorry for than afraid of them. Studies have shown that on average fewer than 5 people die in shark attacks each year worldwide.
According to the infographic surfers and swimmers are the most likely to be attacked by these animals. Sharks will most probably attack lower legs (32%), upper legs (25%) or lower torso (19%). Sharks have various attack strategies like hit-and-run, bump and bite, and sneak attacks.
On a lighter note, things more likely to kill you than a shark are, for eg., falling out of bed, getting crushed by a vending machine or struck by lightning. Enjoy the scary shark attack facts in the infographic!
